Raine's past is a mystery. It appears that she is just an ordinary woman living a quiet and undisturbed life in the peaceful town of Winhill, but unordinarily, she lives with a little girl Ellone, who is neither daughter nor kin. Apparently she has taken Ellone as her own after Ellone's parents were killed when they refused to surrender her to a sorceress trying to manipulate Ellone's mysterious power.

Although her looks may depict otherwise, Raine is not a sweet and naive town girl. Instead, she has a strong personality and is rather opinionated and skeptical of people; she dismisses Laguna's uncertain character when Ellone asks her to marry Laguna. However, she does readily admit that she is indeed fond of him.

Raine is unpretentious, like Laguna She speaks what is on her mind. Unlike Laguna, however, she can be very blunt sometimes. She does not believe in beating about the bush and hence can seem quite the intolerant lady. Perhaps it is the responsibilty of caring for Ellone that has made her the way she is.

Despite Raine's gentle and beautiful appearance, she has a very strong character and speaks her mind honestly.

Raine also appears to be widely loved by her fellow village people who, oddly, somehow harbours immense dislike for Laguna.
